I had ati x1550 and now i have HD 4850
Never had problems with driver ONLY with Sof2 xD
with 10.5 or higher it won't run..
but i cant speak bad about nVidia, because i never had a geforce, only ION, but that's no gaming graphic card

I had some ati xxx , i don´t know exacty the name , but i think it was sth about 9xx.
Everything was shit , driver always fucked up.
Then I bought a new pc with ATI x1650 gto , it was mega mega mega mega shit.
Nothing works :-/
Bought an 8800gt -> all fine
New Computer with gtx260 -> all fine
Bought 2 gtx460 -> all fine
for me ->
Nvidia rules
Ati sucks
maybe you`ve got other experciences , but for me nvidia works better

You know , Fermi is much more faster ?
Especially in DX11 , Antialiasing .
There is Every ATI shit.
Just the 6900 series , who comes end of this month , should be better .
But Nvidia comes with gtx580

Problem is: if AMD cease to exist, there is no concurrention anymore for Intel & nVidia.. What will happen:
Processor prices: x4
GPU prices: x2
Development will slow down (there is no concurrention)
If AMD didn't excist, we would still be in the 1 Ghz age
